The Precious Blood of Christ: Your Path to Complete Freedom

Pastor Dave delivers a compelling exposition on 1 Peter 1:17-21, examining the transformative power of Christ's redemption through His precious blood. Using vivid legal analogies—justification, forgiveness, adoption, and reconciliation—he contrasts the futility of earthly solutions like wealth and religious traditions with the singular power of Christ's sacrifice. He emphasizes that God's plan for salvation was established before creation, making Christ's blood both rare and precious as the only means of spiritual freedom. Through practical examples and direct application, he challenges listeners to recognize their complete dependence on Christ's sacrifice and to live transformed lives in response to this amazing grace. He shows why money and religious rules can't save us, but Jesus' sacrifice can. He reminds us that God planned our salvation before He even created the world.

Your life can be completely different when you understand what Jesus' blood did for you. You're not just forgiven—God says you're perfect in His eyes. You're not just pardoned—you're adopted into God's family. You're not just saved—you become God's friend. This isn't about becoming a better person. It's about getting a brand-new identity. When you really understand what Jesus did, it should amaze you so much that you can't help but live differently. As Pastor Dave says, "just knowing all that God has done... is awe-inspiring that He would look at such a wretch like me and such a wretch like you, and yet love us, and yet call us, and yet grace us, and yet forgive us."

Pastor Dave’s Key Teachings

  • God Declares You Innocent Even though you've done wrong things, Jesus' blood makes God see you as completely good and innocent. You don't have to try to earn God's love—you already have it through Jesus.
  • Your Debt Is Paid Pastor Dave explains it like paying off a bill and getting a receipt that says, "PAID IN FULL." You never have to pay that bill again. That's what Jesus did with your sins. Stop feeling guilty—when God forgives, it's complete and forever.
  • You're Adopted Into God's Family You're not an outsider anymore. God adopted you as His child with all the rights of being in His family. Everything Jesus has is now yours too. Live knowing you belong and have access to God's love and help.
  • You're God's Friend You used to be God's enemy, but now you're His friend and partner. You can talk to God boldly because you're welcome in His presence.
  • Money Can't Save You "Gold and silver cannot buy your salvation or forgive your sins." Only Jesus' blood can change your eternal future. Stop looking to money, success, or achievements for security. Find your worth in Christ alone.

Scriptural Foundation

  • 1 Peter 1:17-21 - We are saved "not with things like silver or gold... but with the precious blood of Christ." This shows that Jesus' sacrifice was planned before creation and is the only way to be truly free.
  • Romans 5:9 - Teaches that Jesus' blood makes us right with God.
  • Romans 6 - Shows how being saved changes how we deal with temptation and right living.

Your Journey Forward

  1. Accept Your New Identity: Stop thinking of yourself as just a forgiven sinner. You are God's child, declared perfect, and called His friend.
  2. Live From Freedom: You're already completely free through Jesus. Let thankfulness guide your choices instead of trying to earn God's love.
  3. Stop Trusting the Wrong Things: Figure out what you've been trusting besides Jesus—money, reputation, good works—and put your trust in Him alone.
  4. Tell Others: Share with people about Jesus' "precious blood" that did what nothing else could do.
  5. Ask Daily: "What is God saying to me today and how will I respond?"

 Closing Prayer and Reflection

"Father, I thank You for Your Word today and I pray Lord we would be impacted again by these truths. That again we would see the wonder, the wonder of it all causes us to fully appreciate and know the goodness and the grace that You've extended to us. Well we're in awe of You."

Take a moment to let this truth sink in: Before God created anything, He already had you in mind. His plan for your salvation was set in motion before the foundation of the world. You are not an afterthought or accident—you are the beloved object of God's eternal purpose. This should cause you to "stand in awe and reverence" and live your life differently, knowing that what He started in you, He will finish to His perfect glory.
